Finally Friday...What is UP?

Good Morning Trish and OFFr's,

Trish, none of us can be there all the time for folks, we all have the things in our own lives that consume us at times and so while many of us suffer from sensitivty when we feel overlooked, I also think most of us are adult enough to realize that simple truth and when we need a dose of extra attention, well we can chime up and ask for it.  Human beings can be quite complicated, can't we. . .

Yay, it's Friday, my favorite day of the workweek, got up, got to the gym and now at work til 5 today, in between I will make a noontime AA meeting and after work meet with a sponsee, then home for my weekend.

Grateful for mine and my family's health, for the life I sometimes complain I don't have enough time for and for the many people who I've come in contact with in the past 24 years of living life soberly, as through that experience I've cultivated a new attitude of gratitude and look for the good in all situations, though as human as I am, sometimes there is great difficulty in that, but I am reminded that we are all of value in some way or another.  Life today is definitely worth living and I hope it remains so for a long time to come.

Wishing you all the best life has to offer today and the peace and strength to deal with what challenges you might be facing.

Hugs, Laureen

Hey Laureen,
Just got back from my AA meeting and some shopping at Walmart, and am so grateful.  My foot issue is what I call a nuisance health problem.  A guy at the meeting shared how his wife has been battling ovarian cancer for the past two years and has to start a third round of treatments for it.  I just have minor foot pain and have to wear a silly boot for two weeks.  God is so good to me.  I have a lot of gratitude for my health and sobriety today.  I had 19 months on Monday.  Each day is a gift.
Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Indeed it is a gift and some days we just have to dig deep to find what our gift for the day is. . .

Hugs and congrats on 19 months, that is great Trish!!!

Positives...HUH???  !!!  I'm trying to stay positive but, I'm a single mom. My kids are all grown up...at least physically. Mentally thats another thing all together.  They seem to think I am at their beck and call...I DON"T HAVE A LIFE according to them ::::???  who can when someone is always calling ..mom i need this..mom can you do this ...mom i need your advice!!!!!

I AM HOWEVER< very grateful that my mom, all 81 years of her is still alive and kicking. She has asked me to come up this week end to help her pack and get things ready for another yard sale.  After several years...maybe 5, she is selling her house.  The buyer is none other than ...MY BROTHER.!!!!  Wow big shock...but he really wants to keep the house in the family and is the only one who can afford it.
so my mom will be moving to a small apartment in Oct. and she needs my help.  Thankfully Annette is going with me to help out some.

  So I am grateful..for family...
and friends...and being able to help them.
Also Zumba was FUN...but boy do my knees hurt!!!

Thanks to all of  you wonderful people who share their ups and downs with all of us...sometimes I hesitate to post my ups and downs...but sometimes, its a necessity for my sanity.
    Blessings to all.....

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Sorry you have to deal with the boot again ... I deal with my knees and back daily, some days more than others ... today is one of those days. Every thing hurts. Must be having a fibro flare.

Busy running around spending my paycheck. Spent too much getting necessary things, such as underwear, cat supplies, prescriptions, fiber, etc., a birthday gift for my brother Ed (the oldest one of the four of us ... his birthday was Tuesday, so I'm late ... it's just a gift card to Bass Pro Shops)... paying bills. Nice to drive around in my little new red car. That thing is so quiet; love the XM Satellite radio, finally some 60s music that I like.

Now I'm pooped and broke, so I'm at work; going to be a long week; we have to do a football tab (special edition) for one of the papers, and I'm one of the editors working on it. It will mean OT, so that's good, because I need the money now that I have to make car payments.

Trish, don't feel you have to comment on each and everything that all of says ... we understand that sometimes you can't get up for all of our trials and tribulations. Take care of your foot.

As for my blessings, I'm grateful for WLS, not so grateful for the knee replacement which has done nothing good for me and given me more pain. But I limp along.

Grateful for my little cat Juliette, who gives my kitty kisses in the morning and greets me at the door when I come home, sits up pretty for her treats. Couldn't ask for a nicer pet.

Grateful for the comment from a coworker when he saw my new car: "Well, you deserve something nice, you work hard enough." It's nice to be respected by your coworkers.

On that note, I should get to work.

Wow, what an upbeat thread!! I know we all have our trials & problems. I am grateful we have this forum to come to for support, when we need a boost, to cry & read the funny stories.

I really enjoy the pet stories. I wiah I could meet all of you & your furbabies! Laureen, your Roxie girl stories made me realize, it's not the dog breed you have, it's the owners they pick. Annette & Eileen, listening to your stories made me want a cat, & now we have one. She is awesome & so much fun. I can't remember who else has a pet, but keep the stories coming.

Thank you all for the prayers, good thoughts, & even swinging chickens the last few weeks. You all have really kept me going at a very rough time.
